Character reflected in possessions

This is a great suggestion for finding creative writing ideas.

It is funny how much about character is expressed by people's possessions, the ones they keep and the ones they discard. Right now, I am moving into a furnished rental apartment and imagining all sorts of things about the former resident, who left behind gossip magazines and receipts for her lingerie purchases, among other things.
