THE GREAT GATSBY by F. Scott Fitzgerald
by Lisa M. Scuderi-Burkimsher
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is a masterpiece. Written in 1925 during the roaring twenties when women had bobbed hair and short dresses, Fitzgerald’s account of the very wealthy Jay Gatsby is a story that keeps the reader enthralled. His love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan is the center of the story.
The book was originally titled Trimalchio, to give the reader a depiction of Gatsby’s lavish life style. In the final draft the name was changed to The Great Gatsby.
Tantalizing and well written, Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby will be a book for the ages. To this date, The Great Gatsby is my favorite novel of Fitzgerald’s.
“In my younger and more vulnerable years…” is a line that immediately captivates the reader.
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is a book that will keep the reader entertained.
The reader will experience through Fitzgerald’s words the life style of the nineteen twenties.
