Free Creative Writing Courses - Class 5

Topic: Point of View

There you are! Good to see you. Today's class is about narrative point of view and different types of narrators.

10-minute writing assignment - Do this after reading the lesson:

Imagine a blind date. The guy thinks it goes wonderfully -- amazing chemistry; they have so much in common. The girl thinks it's a disaster, that he's a real creep. (Optional: write character profiles first for both of these characters).

Part 1 (5 minutes): Write about the date in the first person, from the girl's point of view. E.g., "I met him at the restaurant at seven. He looked..."

Part 2 (5 minutes) Write about the same date in the first person, from the guy's point of view.

Today's reading - After completing the reading, return here to do the 10-minute writing assignment:

How to Write Short Stories from Inside Your Character's Head.
